Works by Haydn, Schubert, Milhaud, and Martinů open the new season of the Ehrbar Chamber Music Society. The flute takes center stage in the program, connecting soundscapes from classical balance to modern expressiveness across stylistic and epochal boundaries.
In the second concert of the cycle, the ECMS invites you to a matinee: an exceptional young violinist, who has received multiple awards, will perform exquisite works from the 19th century together with his equally young and charismatic piano partner. After the interval, Dvořák's Piano Quartet Op. 87 will be heard – a highlight of Romantic chamber music, performed by outstanding musicians from the ECMS circle.
Romantic song and classical chamber music collide in the third concert of the cycle. The young mezzo-soprano Maria Hegele, prizewinner of the 2025 International Haydn Singing Competition, will be the focus with works by Brahms, Schumann, and Löffler. The second half of the concert features Mozart's Kegelstatt Trio and Bruch's Romantic pieces – chamber music for clarinet, viola, and piano in colorful interplay.
The fourth concert focuses on the piano quartet, with works by Mozart and the young Richard Strauss that bridge the gap between Viennese Classicism and the late Romantic period. The centerpiece of the evening is Beethoven's "Duet for Two Obbligato Eyeglasses" for viola and cello – a subtle and humorous dialogue between two kindred voices.
